This closeup head is part of a full portrait in uniform listed in the Getty Hulton picture library 3069517 by G. West and son, with a stated publication date of 1 jan 1870 [2] [ dead link ] . It appears in a number of other version available on the internet, and is published in 'Dreadnought' by Robert K. Massie, 1991, random house, where the caption states it shows Fisher as captain of HMS Excellent in 1883. G west and son consisted of George West and his son, Alfred West (1857-1937) [3] . G. West operated in Gosport, Fisher spending much of his naval career at the nearby portsmouth navy base. Assuming it to be the work of the son, then copyright life plus 70 years is expired.
