From thecolophon, it should seem to have been undertaken by the commandand at the expense of Cardinal Morton, Archbishop of Canterbury, andpatron of the celebrated Sir Thomas More. Mortons arms, with hisrebus, or the pun upon his name, are seen at the reverse of the royal arms, VOL. II. c c 191 MISCELLANEOUS. at the conclusion of the calendar; as the following fac-simile demon-strates—with the omission of the tassels on each side, for want of spacein the present page.
