Summary
Description An artistic drawing of the S5-class SSBN.png |
English:
This is an artistic CGI drawing of the S5 class of ballistic missile submarines of India. This drawing is based upon an image of a Hydrodynamic model of a submarine
tweeted
by the Vice-President of India on 28 August 2019 after he visited an exhibition at
Naval Science & Technological Laboratory
(NSTL) of
DRDO
.
The hydrodynamic model clearly represents a ballistic missile submarine. The model doesn't match the current Arihant-class submarines of India. Hence, it is safe and logical to assume that it represents the S5-class of submarines. I am not the only one suggesting this. Others have suggusted this too . This image may be used with the same audacity as old drawings of INS Arihant, like this one. Interestingly enough, the Indian defence minister hinted at major changes in India's nuclear doctrine a few days before the tweet by the Vice-President. Equally significantly, the state owned Rajya Sabha TV released a discussion about the S5-class just a few days after the tweet. All this was happening at the time of major tensions in the South Asian region. |
