Summary

Description

The church dates from the late 13th century, and consists of a west tower, nave, chancel, north and south aisles and south porch. The tower is of three stages with a broach spire which has three tiers of lucarnes. There are several animal and human grotesques on the spire, similar to Heckington. The nave has four bay arcades, the north arcade dating from the late 13th century, the south arcade somewhat later, the decorated period. There are the remains of a wall painting above the north arcade. The south porch dates from the 14th century, as does the south door. The church was restored in 1879 by Charles Kirk. During restoration, a statue of a headless virgin with child from the 14th century was discovered in the Rood stair well. The chancel was rebuilt around 1900 by Brewill and Baily.

There is a small organ by Henry Willis of 1875, particularly finely voiced.
