He tackles the delicious chew with pleasant antici-pation, he approaches the nuptial ceremony with trepi-dation and faltering step. In neither case does he sus-pect what is in store for him. But when he buys a lot he is all business. Heshrewdly insists on surveys, abstracts, quit claims, rec-ords, deeds, etc.—all stamped, sealed, sworn, and dulydelivered and all bound with a woolen string. Theseservices are accomplished by surveyors, abstractors,lawyers, bankers and public officials all of whom knowtheir business. There are fees to pay and the manpa>s them. When a man builds a building on his lot there isno accounting for his behavior. Some go about itimpetuously, sign contracts on the spur of the mo-ment and suffer from that strange illness which fol-lows a rancid deal.
