Summary
Description Armenian Presidential Elections 2008 Protest Day 11 - French Embassy Demonstration APC 130pm.jpg |
The 11th day of
Armenian presidential election protests
. At 7:30 am, the peaceful "camp-in" protest at Liberty Square in
Yerevan
was violently ended by Armenian special forces which used truncheons and electric shock devices to disperse the crowd of around 1,000. At 12:30 pm, a new crowd marches to the French Embassy in a spontaneous demonstration.
In this picture, at 1:30pm, a police armored personnel carrier with a working large-caliber machine gun turret just arrives. Eventually the unarmed and peaceful people will completely surround the APC, mount it, and force it out of the square. (The APC is a 1966 Soviet BTR-60PB with sighting system and KPV heavy machine gun .) |
