Summary
Description Arugba Olokun.jpg |
English:
This is a photograph of an Arugbà for Olokun, she divinely selected to carry the gourd of offerings or the sacred figurine of an orisa (deity). Most of the Orisas in the yoruba spiritual tradition have thier Arugba and young virgins are mostly chosen to carry this honorable responsibility. The most popular icon of this duty is the Arugba Osun, who is chosen to carry the gourd of sacrifice during the annual Osun/Osogbo Festival in Osogbo, Osun state Nigeria.
