Description Aurora Buttles House aka Sidney Brown House.jpg |
Worthington, Ohio. Built in 1818 when James Monroe (our 5th president) was in office the Federal-style brick house is still in use. Buttles, the builder, was a mason. Some other early owners, community leaders, were Abner Pinney, a merchant and Sidney Brown. a cooper and grocer. The house is on the corner of US23 and Stafford St. I've passed it thousands of times including two trips a day during 12 years of school in Worthington. With a copy of the National Register of Historic Places, I discovered how interesting it is for the first time. That brick sidewalk looks to be the same one I walked while in grade school during the 1930's.
