Description Bucharest - Biserica Sf. Anton 06.jpg |
English:
Interior of church variously known as Biserica Sf. Nicolae (
St. Anthony Church
), Biserica Buna Vestire (
Annunciation Church
), occasionally Biserica Domnească (
Princely Church
), and most often simply Biserica Curtea Veche (
Old Court Church
; it is adjacent to the ruins of the Old Court), Bucharest, Romania. The two texts on the painting are in Romanian, but written in Cyrillic characters. "КУВИОСЮЛ ПАХОМИE" transliterates as
Cuviosul Pachomie
("The Pious (or Venerable) Pachomius") and
ЧИНЕ ВА ПЮТЕА ЇНDЮРА ЗИЮА ВЕНИРИИ ЛЮИ
as
Cine vǎ putea îndura ziua venirii lui
("But who can endure the day of His coming?", Book of Malachi, Chapter 3, Verse 2. A modern Romanian translation would be "Cine va putea să sufere însă ziua venirii Lui?").
