Bypass_Flume_Lock_7_C_and_O_Canal.jpg

Summary

Description
English: The bypass flume (flowing behind the lockkeeper's house) on Lock 7, on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, at 7 miles on the towpath. The bypass flume allows water to bypass the lock and fill the level (pound) below the lock. Without this, the boats below tend to bottom out because of lack of water.
