Bâcau,_Romania._Monumentul_Mircea_Cancicov,_March_2001.jpg

Description Statue of Mircea Cancikov in a formal park - Parcul Cancikov - which could have appeared quite similarly on a postcard of the early 1900s . Cancicov 1884- 1959 was minister of finance in the late 1930s government in the Kingdom of Carol II and was born in Bacau. Apparently he was arrested in 1944 and sentenced to 20 years in prison at Rimnicu Sârat where he died in 1959, if I read the romanian correctly. Acccording to my Nagel's RUMANIA guide (1960s) this was the park of Liberty (!) Parcul Libertatii.
