Schildering. Jaratku is de huwbare leeftijd al gepasseerd maar nog niet getrouwd. Zijn vader wordt in de hel aan kwellingen blootgesteld omdat zijn zoon nog geen nakomelingen heeft. De nakomelingen behoren op aarde de vooroudercultus te volbrengen. Zonder het vereren van de voorouders kan de ziel geen rust vinden.
Deze schildering is de enige in de collectie die gesigneerd is in Balinees schrift met de naam I Wajang Tohdjiwa (I Wayan Todjiwa).. Jaratku ziet zijn vader in de hel omdat hij nog niet getrouwd is, en dus geen nakomelingen heeft. NB: Op 10 juli 2023 door de Nederlandse Staatssecretaris van Cultuur en Media gerestitueerd aan de Republiek Indonesië. |
