English: A special NORAD award, called the "Shield of Freedom", was presented to Captain Burdock of the icebreaking cable repair ship CCGS "John Cabot". Shown here, from left to right, are Douglas F. Bowie, president of the Canadian Overseas Telecommunication Corporation; Hon. John Turner, minister without portfolio, acting on behalf of Minister of Transport J. W. Pickersgill; Captain Burdock; and Richard H. Hawkins, U.S. Consul General in Montreal. Photographed on board the vessel CCGS John Cabot, while docked at the Port of Montreal.
