Hilleström portrayed a variety of social settings. This work shows scenes from the more prosperous circles of Gustavian society. The painting shows a typical period drawing-room in the home of Elis Schröderheim and Anna Charlotta von Stapelmohr on Nybrogatan in Stockholm. Both were friends of the songwriter Carl Michael Bellman.

Hilleström skildrade alla slags sociala miljöer. Här har han fångat scener från de mer välbärgade kretsarna i det gustavianska samhället. [...] Målningen visar ett tidstypiskt förmak i Schröderheims hem på Nybrogatan i Stockholm. Året är 1782 och värden själv välkomnar just prinsessan Sofia Albertina som stiger in i rummet.
