Summary

Description
English: C[h]estia Strousberg ("The Strousberg Question"), cartoon in Ghimpele , the Romanian satirical magazine. It refers to the exposure of German interests in Romania, and more specifically to the contract between industrialist Bethel Henry Strousberg and the Romanian state, on the basis of which were created the Romanian Railways. Germany is portrayed as a hound with its head down the pot marked Cestia Strousberg , a Pickelhaube on the tip of its tail. The young woman who has trapped it by the neck is Camera ("The Chamber [of Deputies]"). The legend, in antiquated Romanian, reads:

Fâră sfială, fâră ruşine
Capulŭ în ólă ţi 'l-ai vîrîtŭ
Ja spune-mi, òre îţi şéde bine
Să'ţi punŭ acuma laţulŭ de gátu?

(Without timidity, without shame,
You shoved your head into the pot
Tell me now, does it suit you

To have my leash around your neck?)
