English:
Chithirai Kani festival is a significant aspect of Tamil New Year celebrations in the Kongu Nadu region. One of the main highlights of this festival is the arrangement of a special tray consisting of auspicious items displayed in front of a mirror. The tray usually contains three fruits (mango, banana, and jackfruit), betel leaves, rice, arecanut, gold or silver jewelry, coins or money, flowers, and a mirror, among other items that symbolize wealth and prosperity. This arrangement is quite similar to the Vishu celebrations observed in Kerala.
