Summary
Description Crewe railway station geograph-2413395-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English:
A 'Duchess (or 'Coronation') Pacific waits to leave Crewe for Perth.
View NW, towards the North, West Coast Main Line. Sir William Stanier's 'Coronation' 4-6-2 No. 46225 'Duchess of Gloucester' - and crew - are in for an exceptionally long and gruelling 291 miles, over Shap and Beattock Summits. The electrication seen in 1961 related only to the route between Crewe and Manchester so far. |
