Summary

Description

Photograph of two sketches of Frederick Deeming, portraying him as "Jack the Viper." He wears a long coat with fur trim and a top hat. Text at lower edge of image reads: "As seen in Whitechapel 1888" and "Jack-the Viper is Deeming from photo 1891." A number of latin phrases have been included: "Mors nos omnes habet" (Death gets us all); "Finis coronat opus" (The end crowns the work, i.e., the murderer is hanged for his crimes); "Semper eadem" (Always the same, i.e., Deeming is the same man as Jack the 'Viper'/Ripper).
