Summary
Description Eastern latrine, the public toilets along the central road, the Greath Baths complex, Ancient Dion (6948376030).jpg | South of the Dionysus Villa and not far from the main street there was a public latrine for the convenience of visitors to the city and people staying at the nearby guesthouse (praetorium). The entrance to this building was from the eastern road, through two side vestibules. The spacious interior was organised around a square atrium with a masonry pool in the centre. The roof opening rested on four wooden columns on stone bases. Running around three sides of the chamber was a deep channel, and above it marble seats with round holes. A gutter at the base of the seats carried away the wastewater. Between the two vestibules was a fountain that flowed continuously. |
