Summary

Description
English: This photograph shows the 'top work' / blast furnace area of the Fitzroy Iron Works at Mittagong, N.S.W. Australia. The photograph's date is unknown but must be between 1875 and 1938 (based on photographer's working life). It must be before 1913 as other photographs show that the buildings surrounding the blast furnace had been demolished by that date. The works are in a dilapidated condition. Note the large metal pipe that carried furnace off-gases to the boiler house.
