English: In 1848, conch blowers and drums called slaves to gather in Frederiksted for the slave insurrection that led to immediate emancipation in the Danish West Indies . There are several copies of "Freedom Statue" throughout the United States Virgin Islands and Denmark . The statue pictured is located in Franklin A. Powell Sr. Park in Cruz Bay , Saint John .
