Version of the " Shield of the Trinity " diagram included in a ca. 1230 manuscript of Robert Grosseteste's writings (Durham Cathedral manuscript A.III.12, f. 14v). In this version of the diagram, the "EST" and "NON EST" captions of the links connecting the nodes are written in both directions along each link. The captions in the top two nodes are the usual "PATER" and abbreviated "SPS SCS" (with abbreviation-indicating overlines over each word). The central node has "Divina Essentia" instead of the usual "DEUS". The bottom node presumably reads "FILIUS DEUS ET HOMO" (though I can't fully resolve the scribal abbreviations). The purpose of the long curving red lines is unclear; they aren't part of the main links, and do not enclose the overall diagram in a shield... |
