Abandoned by his mother when he was five years old, Adolf Hitler's father, Alois, also lived here as a child between 1842 and 1850. Adolf Hitler's mother, Klara Poelzl, was born and raised in the blue house next door, No. 37. She married Alois in Braunau am Inn, in 1885, when she was twenty-five years old and Adolf Hitler was born four years later. Klara was Johann Nepomuk Hiedler's grand-daughter.
