Indian soldier of Tipu Sultan's army, using his rocket as a flagstaff, by British artist Robert Home. The traditional costume of Tipu's infantry generally consists of a 'Tyger Jacket', a long purple woollen shirt with white diamond formed spots on it. On his head the soldier wears a red and white muslin turban, matching the red sash around his waist. Beneath his white trousers, his legs and feet are bare.
