English:
Ponor
of the karstic
Nestani
basin, next to the villages of Nestani and Sagκa (small basin “Argon Pedion”, northeast of the huge Tripoli-Polje). The classic greek geographer
Pausanias (geographer)
(AD 110-180) mentions it as “Αργόν Πεδίον (Argon Pedion)” in part VIII of his traditional book ‘Description of Greece’. The plateau has no natural water outlet, which is a relatively frequent phenomenon in the
Karstbasins
of
Arcadia
(island of the
Peloponnese
in
Greece
).
When precipitation of winters is exceptionally rich, the basin is flooded, a temporary lake may result even nowadays. In such a case the ponor in this karst depression become vital.
Deutsch:

).
