Summary

Description
English: In Dunedin, the WCTU NZ chapter purchased the Leavitt House (the former Star and Garter Hotel in Pelichet Bay) in 1885 and offered a safe place for children to learn and play. The WCTU NZ provided evening classes in cooking, sewing, carpentry, temperance and bible instruction. They also offered a club for boys who would sign a temperance pledge.
