Summary

Description
English: Panel one of the cartoon Senato-filĭ și senato-fagĭ ("Senatophiles and Senatophagi"), featuring Ion Brătianu, Romania's interior minister and behind-the-scenes leader of the liberal majority, being courted by an unnamed, servile, senator. The dialogue references the political crisis which prompted Brătianu to dissolve Senate and call in early elections:

That is:
—Minister sir, in the past Senate [legislature] I was for the government and therefore I plead with you to support my candidacy this time as well.
—But you were publicly against us.
—Well yes! I was duping my political friends, but otherwise, when it came to voting...
—You voted against us, openly.

—Well then I was duping myself as well.
