Manung Thangapat is the Inner Moat of the Kangla Fort in Imphal. It protects the Kangla Palace as a second line of defense. Inside its encircled region, there lies the citadel of the Kangla fort. In Meitei language (officially known as Manipuri language), "Manung" means "Inner" and "Thangapat" means "Moat".
