Summary
Description Merestone.JPG |
English:
Merestone, an old house straddling the PA-Delaware Border on the NRHP since March 2, 1995. On Yeatman's Station Rd., New Garden Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. On Yeatman's Mill Road (same Road) in New Castle County, Delaware. Built in stages including an 1800's log cabin a frame part, and two stone parts. Reconstructed rather than restored about 1940 by an architect with a remarkable name, R. Brognard Okie. Given the name at that time - meaning border stones. Before 1898 resurvey and 1923 legal implementation, it was all in Delaware, but some of the land was in PA.
