English: Prayer niche, mihrab. From Beyhekim Mosque in Konya, Turkey. 13th century CE. The mosque was built by the personal physician of the Seljuk sultan Kilij Arslan IV, c. 1266. Words of the Prophet Muhammad appear next to geometric filling motifs. Verses from Quran Surahs 2 and 29 also appear. Islamic Art Museum (Museum für Islamische Kunst), Berlin, Germany. Earthenware, opaque turquoise, black and brown glaze.
