In the Dominican Republic, a fermented drink or guavaberry wine is traditional in parts of the southern coast. In Pedernales province people also consume as fresh juice and in milkshakes, when in season

Estas son las frutas de mijo o guavaberry, de la planta Myrciaria floribunda, recogidas del medio silvestre cerca de Oviedo, Provincia Pedernales. En la República Dominicana, se prepara tradicionalmente un vino fermentado de guavaberry en algunos lugares de la costa sur. En la provincia Pedernales también se consumo en jugos frescos y en batidas con leche, cuando está en temporada.
