Da Madvig i 1879 kunne fejre 50 års jubilæum som universitetslærer, blev der på initiativ af brygger J. C. Jacobsen af Harald Conradsen udført en medalje med indskrift af J. L. Ussing. Madvig fik selv medaljen i guld. |
