Murex (trunculus and brandaris) shells on display in the lobby of the Murex Hotel in Tyre/Sour, Southern Lebanon. In ancient history, Tyre was famous for producing Tyrian purple, gained from the shellfish, after which the hotel is named.

النوعان الرئيسيان لصدفة الموركس: موركس ترنكلوس وموركس برنداريس معروضان في ردهة فندق الموركس في صور، جنوب لبنان. في التاريخ القديم، كانت صور مشهور بإنتاج الأرجوان الصوري الذي كان يستخرج من المحار البحري المعروف باسم أصداف الموركس ويعود اسم الفندق لهذه الأصداف.
