Description
English : The painting shows the interior of the chapel of the inquisition in the House of St. Dominic in Toulouse in 1822. On the ceiling are scenes of the life of the saint. In 1860 the nuns had had a false ceiling of plaster put in place. The paintings were forgotten, until the early twentieth century when the painting of Roques, painted in 1822, allowed to rediscover the original ceiling of Moncornet painted in the seventeenth.
Français : Le tableau montre l’intérieur de la chapelle de l’inquisition dans la Maison de saint Dominique à Toulouse en 1822. On y voit au plafond les scènes de la vie de saint. En 1860 les religieuses avaient fait mettre en place un faux plafond de plâtre. Les peintures ont été oublié, jusqu’au début du XXe siècle où le tableau de Roques, peint en 1822, à permis de redécouvrir le plafond original de Balthasar Moncornet peint au XVIIe.
Italiano : Il dipinto mostra l'interno della cappella dell'Inquisizione nella casa di San Domenico a Tolosa nel 1822. Sul soffitto sono scene della vita del santo. Nel 1860 le suore avevano messo in opera un controsoffitto in gesso. I dipinti furono dimenticati, fino all'inizio del XX secolo quando la tela di Roques, dipinta nel 1822, permise di riscoprire il soffitto originale di Moncornet dipinto nel XVII.
