Description
English: Discovered in 1909, this small jade figurine possesses the features of a Olmec were-jaguar , including almond-shaped eyes, a cleft head (unseen in this photo), a broad flat nose, a snarling mouth with an everted upper lip, a band across the lower part of its headdress, and pleated earbars. A crossed-band motif appears at the waist.
Height 8.6 cm (3.4 in).
