Summary

Description
English: Uncovered facade of the Palais Garnier on 15 August 1867. The facade remained unfinished. For example, the two pairs of sculptural groups at the base of each side of the right and left avant corps remain blocks of stone. The missing sculptural groups at the summit of the two avant corps have been artificially added to the photograph. The name on the building is "ACADEMIE IMPERIALE DE MUSIQUE". After the fall of the Second French Empire , the first six letters of "IMPERIALE" were changed to "NATION".
