Summary
Description Palast Cafe and Theatre, Gotha tram, Holzmarkt,Jena DDR Aug 1989 - Flickr - sludgegulper.jpg |
The Jena trams carried charming advertisements for jena pharmaca and Carl Zeiss.A two car set on Route 2. On the net, I see a DEFA film premierered here in the Palast Theater called" Kabale und Liebe" Previously this was the Hotel International, rebuilt in 1963 by a collective under the leadership of H.Kottke. Facade covered with white ceramic tiles. Now a Hotel Ibis Jena looks after the visitor's needs. The bold lettering above the top windows with Hotel International lettering has already vanished during DDR times. Had it ceased to be a hotel? This Flickr photo has text indicating that it was demolished and replaced by a Multiplex, the CineStar Jena, with 8 screens. |
