1104. Hiort, Peder, f. paa Røros 1716, d. 1789. Direktør ved Røros Kobberverk 1772-89. Ugift.

Var Værkets Proviantskriver 1742-62, og dets Bergskriver 1762-72, og som saadan endog valgt til Medlem af Værkets Overdirektion 1768-71. I de 45 Aar, Hiort var ansat ved Værket, gjorde han sig i sine forskjellige Stillinger altid bemærket som en af de dygtigste Funktionærer, Værket nogensinde har havt. Han forfattede ogsaa dets Historie, der udkom i Kra. 1846. Han og hans nærmeste Familie ligger begravet i et af ham opført Gravkapel ved Røros Kirke. Størstedelen af sin Formue skjænkede han til en efter ham opkaldt Stiftelse, hvis Hensigt er at fremhjælpe Arbeidsomhed. OM., Brystbill. i 1/2 Størr. * Hiortske Gravkapel, Røros.
