Article 27 of Turkish Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works , which was in force on the URAA date and is still in force today, states that "in cases stated in the first paragraph of article 12 [which deals with works where the name of the owner is not stated], the protection period is 70 years from the date that the work becomes publicized." The Topkapı Saray Museum was opened to the public on 3 April 1924. [1] This portrait of Abdülmecid II thus entered the public domain in Turkey 70 years after it was made available to the public, i.e. in 1994. |
