Description Portrait of Julie Palmer Smith (1850s).jpg |
English:
Photograph of an oil painting of Julie Palmer Smith from sometime in the 1850s, when she was in her 30’s. Julie Smith (sometimes referred to as Julia Smith) was a romance novelist who lived in Hartford and New Hartford, Connecticut. She and her husband, Morris Smith, owned the Esperanza estate in New Hartford. A matching portrait of Morris also exists. The artist of this painting is unknown; if there is a signature, it's hidden by the frame.
