Diagram of British Mk II 5 lb 1 oz 12 drams Cordite cartridge, separate loading, for QF 4 inch Mk IV naval gun.
Approximate length of cartridge case is 19 inches.
Charge is 5 lbs 1 oz 12 drams Cordite M.D. Size 16.


The cartridge is designed so that gases from the fired charge pass unobstructed through the wads to a Night Tracer in the base of the shell, to ignite it.
