Queen_Elizabeth_II_visiting_Townsville,_1970.jpg

Summary

Description
English: This 1970 tour of Australia and New Zealand broke centuries of tradition through introducing the ‘walkabout’ practice that is so popular today, allowing the Royals to stop and talk randomly to crowds in the street. In Townsville, crowds lined up 10-12 deep to view the royal couple and then 19-year-old Princess Anne as they went past.
