Ravenstor Railway Station
Ravenstor Station photographed on 23 October 2005. Ravenstor was opened as a new station on 3 September 2005 as the most northerly station on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Prior to the station's opening, the short mineral branch had been subject to restoration by the railway's volunteers over the preceding four years; the line having lain disused since December 1989 when the last freight service ran. This section of the Ecclesbourne Valley line (known then as the Wirksworth Branch) had been exclusively freight-only in its operation; the area to the right of the image having been used as a loading area for the nearby Middle Peak Quarry. |
