Regal,_Minnesota.jpg

Summary

Description
English: REGAL, a city in section 5 of Roseville Township, incorporated as a village April 25, 1940; it was first established as Linton and named after one of the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad (Soo Line) contractors; however, another town already had that name, so the community became Lintonville; the post office department determined that name not acceptable, so George Weidner, an early settler, suggested three automobile names: Regal, because he owned one; Ford, because a local farmer had one; and Harvard, because it was a solid name; Regal won. It had a station of the Minnesota and Pacific Railroad; the post office was called Lintonville, 1887-1914, changing to Regal in 1915.
