Description Remains of Rummu quarry utility buildings in the water at night on 5 September 2014.jpg |
English:
Original description: Rummu @ night
Remains of Rummu quarry utility buildings immersed in lakewater and standing against the backdrop of the night sky. The quarry was being mined for limestone by the inmates of the adjacent Murru prison. As mining eventually ceased and the local water drainage station stopped working in the 1990s, the groundwater quickly inundated the quarry. The prison facility itself was closed on 31 December, 2012. The image depicts several buildings, so no one building has sole focus. The utility buildings don't appear to have any artistic value and were built after a type-project template to prison requirements. |
