Summary
Description Riddle's Court archway - geograph.org.uk - 1338873.jpg |
English:
Archway leading to the house of town councillor and magistrate, Bailie John Macmorran. Through the inspiration of the pioneer town planner, Patrick Geddes, the house and its neighbour, built in the 1590s, were converted into the first student residences for Edinburgh University. The building gradually decayed until its renovation in 1946; and is now used as an adult education centre.
