Français : La peinture représente le marché aux chevaux à Paris, et le dôme de La Salpétrière est visible dans le fond. C'est une version réduite du tableau original de Rosa Bonheur 'Le marché aux chevaux', exposé au Salon de 1853 (New York, Metropolitan Museum). Bien qu'achevé et signé par Rosa Bonheur, ce tableau fut débuté par son amie de longue date et compagne Nathalie Micas. Le négociant Ernest Gambart l'acquit en 1855, et il fut gravé par Thomas Landseer.
English: The scene is the horse market in Paris, and the dome of La Salpêtrière is visible in the background. This is a reduced version of Bonheur's original 'Horse Fair', exhibited at the Salon of 1853 (New York, Metropolitan Museum). Although finished and signed by Bonheur, this painting was begun by the artist's life-long friend, Nathalie Micas. The dealer Ernest Gambart acquired it in 1855, and it was engraved by Thomas Landseer.
