Description Serbia-0290 - Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George.jpg |
PLEASE, no multi invitations, glitters or self promotion in your comments, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR. The Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George is a head church of Serbian Orthodox. It was built between 1860 and 1905, after the old temple was almost totally destroyed in the Revolution of 1848/1849. The church was built on the place of older one, dating from 1734. The Novi Sad Orthodox Cathedral is dedicated to the Saint George. Inside the church there are 33 icons on the iconostasis, historical pictures above both choirs, as well as two large throne icons. |
