Description
English: Plaque on the corner of Great Junction Street and King Street commemorating the birthplace of John Gladstone, father of the great 19thC British Liberal prime minister William Gladstone. John began his business activities in Leith and made his fortune trading in corn, cotton and sugar, whilst making full use of the free labour made possible by the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
