Summary

Description
English: Slave shackle - 1811 Kid Ory Historic House, LaPlace, Louisiana. Curator John McCusker kindly allowed me to temporarily move it to a place with better light to photograph it. He said that it has been confirmed to be a period shackle used on enslaved people; it was found while digging in a property on Baronne Street in New Orleans and donated to the museum.
